How to look after a Luxury Sports Car

Blogging Business NEWS Online Marketing

The moment you’ve dreamed of has finally arrived: you’re the owner of a luxury sports car. It likely took months or even years to save up the money for this purchase, and yet most cars depreciate by 50% in the first three years of ownership. To make the most of your investment, you’ll want to make sure you’re treating the vehicle right.

Follow this guide on how to look after a luxury sports car to keep it running as well as new for as long as possible.

Follow the manual

A surprising percentage of people do not look at the owner’s manual for their car. This is perhaps unsurprising as car manuals can take hours to read cover to cover, but they contain essential information for caring for your car.

Online resources and general recommendations from experts are useful, but your manual includes advice specific to looking after your vehicle model.

Regular servicing

To keep your car healthy, regular servicing is a must. This includes the annual MOT test that you can book online and a full service once a year or every 12,000 miles.

The MOT test ensures that your vehicle is legally roadworthy, while the service is a more comprehensive check covering the engine, clutch and gearbox, tires and wheel alignment, and filters.

Regular servicing helps to identify problems before they cause too much damage to your car.

Check fluid levels

In between your services, you should be checking the fluid levels of your car.

Prioritise engine coolant, the battery and brake fluid, and oil. Your manual will include a diagram of where to find each component and tips on the appropriate levels for all fluids. Your oil should be refilled every 5,000 miles – you can use the dipstick to check for a normal consumption rate.

Don’t forget to refill your screen wash regularly, too. This is especially important in summer when road dust levels are high.

Drive carefully

Sports cars are sought-after because they let you drive fast. However, abusing this benefit will reduce the lifespan of your car and could get you and others into unsafe situations.

Even if you’re driving at speed, keep your actions smooth. Ease into corners, don’t stab the pedals, and avoid jerking the steering wheel.

Be aware of any hazards on the road that could potentially damage the car as well such as potholes.

Wash and wax

As well as looking after the interiors of your sports car, it’s important to protect the exteriors as well.

Washing your car is not just vanity: mud and dirt contain minerals such as salt that over time will corrode your paintwork. Make time to regularly wash down the car, including the area around the tires.

You should also reapply the wax at recommended intervals to maintain a smooth and protective high-shine polish.
